Senior Management

Daniel P. Hansen

CHAIRMAN, PRESIDENT AND CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Mr. Hansen serves as our Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Hansen’s service as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer provides a critical link between management and the Board, enabling the Board to perform its oversight function with the benefits of management’s perspectives on the business. Mr. Hansen also provides us with extensive experience in the hospitality industry as well as a capital markets background that assists the Board in analyzing capital raising opportunities and issues. He serves on the Board of the American Hotel & Lodging Association and on advisory councils of multiple hotel brands.
Mr. Hansen joined The Summit Group in October of 2003 as Vice President of Investor Relations. His responsibilities included leading the capital raising efforts for our predecessor’s private placements of its equity securities and assisting in acquisition due diligence. In 2005, he was appointed to our predecessor’s Board of Managers and promoted to Executive Vice President, in which capacity he was part of the team that acquired over $140 million of hotel properties and led the development of over $240 million of hotel assets. In 2008, he was appointed to President and Chief Financial Officer of The Summit Group. His primary responsibilities included the development and execution of growth strategies, raising equity capital and hotel development and acquisition.

Prior to joining The Summit Group, Mr. Hansen spent 11 years with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated, or Merrill Lynch, in various leadership positions culminating as a Vice President and Regional Sales Manager in the Texas Mid-South Region, which included Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Mr. Hansen graduated from South Dakota State University with a B.A. in Economics.

Jonathan P. Stanner

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND TREASURER
Mr. Stanner serves as our Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Mr. Stanner joined Summit Hotel Properties in April 2017 and previously served as the company’s Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer.
Prior to joining Summit, Mr. Stanner was Chief Executive Officer at Strategic Hotels & Resorts, a former NYSE-listed company acquired by an affiliate of The Blackstone Group in 2015. During his tenure at Strategic Hotels & Resorts from 2005 to 2015, Mr. Stanner also held various other senior positions with the company, including Chief Financial Officer, Senior Vice President - Capital Markets, Acquisitions, and Treasurer and Director of Corporate Finance. Prior to his time at Strategic Hotels, Mr. Stanner was an investment banking analyst for Banc of America Securities.

Mr. Stanner holds both a B.S. in Management and an MBA from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.

Craig J. Aniszewski

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mr. Aniszewski serves as our Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Aniszewski joined The Summit Group, our predecessor company, in January 1997 as Vice President of Operations and Development.
He became the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of The Summit Group in 2007 and had been a member of the Board of Managers from 2004-2011. Mr. Aniszewski currently serves on the Owner’s Advisory Board for Hilton Garden Inn and previously served on Intercontinental Hotel Group’s IH4 Room Owner’s Advisory Board from 2016-2017, and on the Franchise Advisory Committee for Fairfield Inn by Marriott.

Mr. Aniszewski joined The Summit Group following 13 years with Marriott International, Inc. where he held sales and operations positions in full-service, convention and resort hotels. During his career with Marriott, he also worked in the select-service sector holding various positions which included Director of Sales and General Manager for Residence Inn and Courtyard branded hotels located in Florida, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland and North Carolina. Mr. Aniszewski graduated from the University of Dayton with a B.S. in Criminal Justice with minors in Business and Psychology.

Christopher R. Eng

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, GENERAL COUNSEL, CHIEF RISK OFFICER AND SECRETARY
Mr. Eng serves as our Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Secretary. In his role, Mr. Eng is responsible for managing the Company’s legal affairs and providing legal support for the Company’s operations on a day-to-day basis.
Previously, Mr. Eng served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Company’s predecessor organizations where he was responsible for corporate compliance, focusing on real estate acquisitions and dispositions, franchise licensing, corporate insurance coverage, corporate governance and securities industry regulatory compliance. Mr. Eng earned his B.A. degree from Augustana College (S.D.) and his J.D. degree from the University of Denver College of Law.

Paul Ruiz

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND CHIEF ACCOUNTING OFFICER
Mr. Ruiz joined Summit Hotel Properties in April 2014 and currently serves as our Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Mr. Ruiz also served as the Company’s interim Chief Financial Officer from May 2014 to October 2014.
Mr. Ruiz brings over 25 years of expertise in finance and accounting, business strategy, organizational operations, manufacturing and logistics, information systems and technology, private and public debt and equity transactions, mergers and acquisitions, international expansion and operations, management of hyper-growth, divestitures and restructuring activities, and business transformations. Mr. Ruiz has previously served in senior executive financial, accounting and operational roles such as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Accounting Officer for companies in a variety of industries, including real estate and technology. Immediately prior to joining the Company, Mr. Ruiz was the Senior Director of Global Corporate Accounting for Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. (now NXP), a global leader in semiconductors. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was an audit manager providing audit and business advisory services to entrepreneurial, rapidly growing and Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Ruiz is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BBA in Accounting with highest honors from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA with highest honors from the Hankamer School of Business at Baylor University.
